A Hand-Dyed Piece of Wearable Art — Itajime Shibori Scarf Every fold, every clamp mark, every soft edge of color on this scarf was made by hand — no two are ever exactly alike. Using the traditional Japanese itajime shibori resist-dyeing technique, the fabric is folded and pressed between shaped blocks before being hand-dyed in small batches, creating this one-of-a-kind pattern of moss green, warm gold, and indigo blue. Unlike digitally or screen-printed textiles, where the pattern only sits on the surface of one side, this scarf is fully hand-dyed — the color soaks completely through the fabric using the itajime resist technique. That means both sides show the same pattern equally, with no “wrong side” to hide. Practically, this gives you more ways to wear and tie it, and the color won’t fade unevenly on one side over time the way a printed design can. Made to Order — Please Note Processing Time Each scarf is made after you order — this is not a ready-to-ship item. Current processing time is 2-3 weeks before your order ships. If you need it by a specific date (for a gift or event), please message us before ordering and we'll do our best to accommodate. The Fabric Soft, breathable cotton — lightweight enough to wear year-round, with the slightly textured, relaxed drape that only natural fiber gives you.

How to Wear It This piece is made to be styled more than one way:

Loosely wrapped around the neck for an everyday layered look Tied as a bohemian-style head wrap or headband Draped over the shoulders as a light shawl Knotted at the base of a ponytail or bun as a hair accessory

A Note on Handmade Color Because this is dyed by hand, please expect gentle variation in color placement and intensity — this is part of what makes each piece genuinely one-of-a-kind, not a flaw. Care Hand wash cold or gentle machine wash in a mesh bag. Lay flat to dry. Avoid direct prolonged sun exposure to preserve the dye's depth over time. Made with Care Designed and hand-dyed in our small studio, inspired by moss, forest light, and the quiet beauty of imperfection (wabi-sabi). Ships from California.
